Wound Care Center

For most people, the occasional skinned knee or nasty little blister requires nothing more than a band-aid and a few days to heal. But when wounds won't heal and cause long-term pain, a more comprehensive approach to healing is required.

Paris Regional Medical Center's Wound Care Center, located at 1128 Clarksville Street, Suite 50 in Paris, offers advanced technologies and proven clinical protocols in the treatment of chronic, non-healing wounds.

Statistics show a tremendous need for wound care treatment. Each year, approximately five million Americans will suffer from chronic wounds caused by diabetes, circulatory problems and many other conditions.

The statistics are compelling:
• 1.5 million people who will suffer from chronic wounds have diabetic ulcers
• 2.5 million people have pressure ulcers
• 1 million people have venous stasis (circulatory) ulcers
• 15 percent of all diabetics will develop chronic wounds
• Patients with diabetes have a 15-fold increase in the risk of amputation and approximately 60,000 diabetics will undergo amputation each year

But there is good news.

Studies have shown that wound care treatment has reduced amputation rates significantly and reduced the length of hospital stays by 24 percent. Wounds heal faster (average of 21 days) and with more success (87 percent healing rate.)

Although healing problem wounds can be frustrating and time-consuming, the professional staff at the Wound Care Center is trained to provide a specialized, comprehensive course of outpatient therapy for problem wounds.

The patient’s personal physician continues to treat any underlying conditions and manage overall patient care. The Wound Care Center team treats the chronic or non-healing wound and remains in contact with the patient’s primary physician during the course of treatment.

Paris Regional Medical Center has partnered with Diversified Clinical Services, the nation’s pioneer and leader in wound management, to develop and manage the center. Diversified Clinical Services utilizes innovative techniques that focus on not just treating the wound’s symptoms, but healing it entirely by taking a disease management approach that eliminates the cause.

The clinical therapies and approaches that employed by the Wound Care Center at PRMC are also used at Diviersified’s nearly 300 wound care centers across the nation—with outstanding results:
• a greater than 95 percent patient satisfaction rate
• a greater than 87 percent healing rate, and
• average days to healing: 21 days
