PRMC LAB RECEIVES ACCREDITATION

Paris Regional Medical Center’s (PRMC) laboratory has been awarded two-year re-accreditation by the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation of the College of American Pathologists, based on the results of a recent on-site inspection. The College of American Pathologists (CAP) is the world’s largest association composed exclusively of pathologists and has long been considered the gold standard in standards setting and evaluation for laboratories in the United States and abroad.

“The CAP Accreditation is designed to ensure the highest standard of care for our patients who need laboratory services,” said Jack Gibson, Director of Laboratory Services at Paris Regional Medical Center. “We are honored to be considered among the country’s best laboratories, a distinction that reflects the hard work and dedication of our staff.”

During the CAP accreditation process, inspectors examine the laboratory’s records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years. CAP inspectors also look at the entire staff’s qualifications, the laboratory’s equipment, facilities, safety program and record, as well as the overall management of the laboratory. This stringent inspection program is designed to specifically ensure the highest standard of care for the laboratory’s patients.
