PRMC EMPLOYEES MAKE AN "AMAZING JOURNEY" |

 Paris Regional Medical Center employees Neva Bettis Vickers, Debbie Hindman and Amy Jolley are happy to put in some extra miles for the “Amazing Journey” program sponsored by the hospital.
The Amazing Journey is a year-long program that invites Paris Regional Medical Center employees to be proactive with their health by making a virtual journey from Paris, Texas to Orlando, Florida. The program encourages employees to find a partner and together make the 1,000-mile virtual trip—each walking 500 miles—by tracking daily steps with a pedometer.
“We initiated this program to encourage our employees to lead more active lifestyles,” said Cheryl Perry, Human Resources Director at Paris Regional Medical Center. “Healthy employees make happy employees. And happy employees mean satisfied patients.”
There are 272 Paris Regional Medical Center employees participating in the Amazing Journey program. All employees will receive a $75 gift card for a new pair of athletic shoes as a reward for completing their journey and for committing to improving their health.
The idea for the Amazing Journey was inspired by speaker and author Robert Sweetgall who began his own amazing journey across the United States after several family members lost their lives to heart disease. He devoted one year to his health by completing an unprecedented 11,208-mile journey through all 50 states. He has since crossed the United States seven times.
Paris Regional Medical Center’s sister hospitals—Merrimack Valley Hospital, Nashoba Valley Medical Center, Southwest Regional Medical Center and Sharon Hospital—are also participating in the program. Essent Healthcare owns and operates all five hospitals.
